The vine:

Located in Rouffach, in the South of Alsace, the Clos Saint Landelin, monopoly of the Muré family, covers 15 hectares (37.5 acres). It’s situated at the southern end of the grand cru Vorbourg. Its steep south facing slopes are cultivated in terraces. The soil is clay and limestone with a lot of stones. The subsoil is made of calcareous sandstone from the Bajocien and calcareous conglomerates from the Oligocene. The vineyard is in organic farming.

- Harvest: by hand, in 20-kg-boxes

- Yield: 45 hl / ha

- Vinification: slow fermentation and maturation on fine lees

- Residual sugar: 9 grams / litre

- Alcohol: 13 % / volume

- Ageing potential: 20 years

- Tasting notes:

Yellow pale color. The wine is fresh and powerful. Its power is balanced by delicacy : it evokes lemon and fruits and keeps elegance. This is a great riesling from the Clos St Landelin. Its minerality is the logical consequence of the ploughing.

To be served with fish in sauce or white meat.
