The Muré family history

René Muré and his children, Véronique and Thomas, represent the 11th and 12th generation of vinegrowers in the family. In 1650, Michel Muré settled in Westhalten, near Rouffach and began to grow vines. In 1935, Alfred Muré, René’s grand-father, managed to acquire the Clos Saint Landelin, a 12-hectare-vineyard, that is still a monopole of the family.

Veronique Mure

Véronique Muré

She studied vinegrowing and oenology at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Agronomie in Montpellier. Before coming back to Alsace, she gained experience in several estates like Guigal in the Rhône valley and Jean-Marc Boillot in Pommard Burgundy. She also worked in an Enology laboratory in Burgundy and trained  at University of California Davis.

She joins the family estate in 2001 when she was 25. She’s curruntly in charge of the commercial and administrative part.

Mothers of two childrens, she shares her passion for nature, mountain, gastronomy and fine wines with her husband Matthias Dietrich.

Thomas Mure

Thomas Muré

After vine-focus studies at the Lycée Agricole in Rouffach, Thomas get a degree (Brevet de Technicien Supérieur) in vinegrowing and oenlogy at the Lycée de Bel Air in the Beaujolais.

Since 2001, he helped his father on the estate. He actually divides his time beetwen the 25 hectare vineyard and the cellar.

Always looking to learn something new, he travels in the wine areas to discover new terroirs and techniques. As a geek through and through, he stays crazy abouth music and computering. His girlfriend graduated in organic farming and is actually working in the vineyard. Their daughter was born in 2011.

Rene Mure

René Muré

René studied mathematics and economic sciences. In 1972, he began his vinegrowing career with his father and uncle.

He is a a self-taught winemaker, although the familial footprint is very strong. He took the lead of the estate in 1976. He manages it by combinating his cartesian mind and his wonderful passion for his terroir and its wines.

He brought the best of the vineyards by travelling in other french wine regions : high plantation density, organic farming, respect of the terroirs. Thanks to his determination, he put the estate at the top of Alsace.
