The vine :

Located in Rouffach, in the South of Alsace, the Clos Saint Landelin, monopoly of the Muré family, covers 12 hectares. It’s situated at the southern end of the grand cru Vorbourg. Its steep south facing slopes are cultivated in terraces. The soil is clay and limestone with a lot of stones. The subsoil is made of calcareous sandstone from the Bajocien and calcareous conglomerates from the Oligocene. The vineyard is in organic farming.

The wine :

  • Vinification : Slow fermentation and maturation on fine lees
  • Acidity in tartric acid : 9 grams/litre
  • Residual sugar : 290 grams/litre
  • Alcohol : 9 %/volume
  • Date of harvest : September 22-23 th 2009
  • Yield : 27 hl/ha
  • Ageing potential : More than 20 years

Press :

This is like biting into a ripe yellow peach that's hot from sitting in the sun, with bright, tangy acidity that brings you back for another bite. Mixes in notes of orange granita, passion fruit, honeycomb and apple blossom, with hints of tarragon and Thai basil. There's lovely balance to this, with subnotes of spice, stone and smoke that give access to a serious vein of minerality. The finish is long and juicy (...)
