The Schulzengass
The place called "Schulzengass" is situated on a richer soil below the Grand Cru Vorbourg, but with good draining off due to the well-known calcareous subsoil in Rouffach. The origin of the name dates back to the 16th century, and means lane (gass) of the provost (schulz). The Schulzengass is located along the old Roman road. ![]() The wines are rich, full-bodied and deep. The gewurztraminer gives very good results there. The wine requires a rather long ageing on lees and in the bottle. The degrees are high because the south-eastern exposure is perfectly appropriate to give high maturity.
