The Côte de Rouffach brings together the best slopes facing south and southeast around the small town of Rouffach. On the foothills of the Vosges mountains, this terroir is protected from oceanic influences by the Petit Ballon massif. This results in a beautiful sunshine and little rainfall. Ideal conditions for an optimal maturation of the grapes!

The soils are made of clay and calcareous and are well drained. The grape varieties that thrive best are, for the reds, pinot noir and for the whites, gewurztraminer, riesling and pinot gris.
The Côte de Rouffach is one of the brand new Communal Appelations. Only a dozen appellations have been recognized by the INAO (Institut National des Appellations d'Origine). In the hierarchy of Alsace appellations, they are above the level of the Alsace appelation but below the Grand Cru level.
